Who we are
thruMYeyes is published by Syncterface Media, registered in England & Wales, Company No. 6051931. We are the data controller for the information described here. This policy is written under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- When you subscribe: your email address and first name, plus — if you choose to give them — your last name, country, organisation or role, the topics and frequency you would like, and how you heard about us.
- If you use “Continue with Google”: Google passes us your name and email address so the form can be filled in for you. We never see your Google password and we have no access to your Google account, files or calendar.
- When you contact us: whatever you choose to put in your message.
We do not run website analytics or advertising trackers, and this site has no user accounts, so there is nothing to log in to and no browsing history kept against your name.
How we use it
Only to send you the briefing you asked for and to reply to messages you send us. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Who else handles your information
We use two outside companies. Both act on our instructions as our processors.
- MailerLite — MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, Ireland, which serves customers based in the UK and EEA. MailerLite stores our subscriber list and sends the briefing, the confirmation email and every unsubscribe. They hold your name, email address and any preferences you gave us, under a data processing agreement. See the MailerLite privacy policy.
- Google — Google Ireland Limited. Google is involved in four ways: the typefaces on every page are served by Google Fonts, which means your device’s IP address reaches Google whenever you load a page; if you use “Continue with Google” to subscribe; if you click “Add to Google Calendar”, which takes you to Google with the session details; and video embedded in some articles is served through youtube‑nocookie.com, which sets no cookies unless you press play. See the Google privacy policy.
Where your information is held
Your subscriber details are held by MailerLite’s Irish entity within the EEA. Google may process some information outside the UK and EEA; where that happens it is covered by the safeguards those companies maintain for international transfers, such as the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscriber details for as long as you want the briefing. Unsubscribe and you are removed from the sending list; ask us to delete your details and we will remove them from MailerLite entirely. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
Consent
We email you only if you ticked the consent box and then clicked the confirmation link we sent — both steps are required. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we sent before.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy
- have inaccurate details corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive your data in a portable form
- withdraw consent at any time
Contact us and we will action any of these. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
